Presentation of the results of the first annual Environmental Responsibility Rating of Oil & Gas Companies in Kazakhstan will take place in Astana on February 22. The rating was organized following the initiative of World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Russia, CREON Group of Companies, and United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 2017, oil production in Kazakhstan increased by 8% as compared to the previous year and totaled record 86.2 mln tons, which makes the republic one of the world leaders in terms of production growth. These dynamic changes promote overall regional economic development, but at the same time may result in additional noticeable impact on the environment.
Launch of Environmental Responsibility Rating of Oil & Gas Companies in Kazakhstan is the event of pivotal importance today, as it will promote improvements in ecological risks management quality when it comes to production, transportation and processing of raw hydrocarbons, as well as further decrease negative impact on the environment. In addition to direct nature protection effect, the rating will also become a powerful stimulus for improvement of corporate transparency and cooperation with all interested parties.
